education & livelihoods

It is certainly clear that becoming educated allows one to come from a place of power. In today’s world this speaks loudly in a voice that will be heard. Attainment will allow for ongoing opportunities, which include being able to educate and mentor one’s peers……. “Judith Rackham”

Education Program

Despite global efforts to provide quality education, many children worldwide still face significant disadvantages in their schooling experiences.

Issues such as inadequate teaching materials, lack of sanitation facilities, food insecurity, discrimination, proper classrooms, school fees, harassment and violence hinder their learning and development.

Every child has the right to education, learning, and development, as outlined in the United Nations Conventions on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC). However, these fundamental rights are often denied to many children.

In rural areas, particularly, girls encounter barriers to education such as late enrollment, high dropout rates due to gender bias, teenage pregnancy, cultural practices, lack of sexual awareness and substance abuse.

Socio-economic factors and inadequate learning environments further impede access to education for many girls. Providing girls with education not only breaks the cycle of poverty but also contributes to healthier families and communities. Mount Olives CBO has been working together with nearby schools by supporting sporting activities eg. donation of balls, training kits and other sporting equipment to help in talent narturing. Orphan feeding program has also been our major factor and our goal is to continue caring for orphaned and vulnerable students by supplying them with a daily meal.
